True colours: Support your sports team with designer blinds

With the Cricket World Cup seeing the Black Caps finish a fantastic second in the world – where New Zealand hosted 23 matches – it’s a good time to consider just how strongly New Zealanders support their sporting teams.

This time of year is jam-packed with sport including Super Rugby,  the Warriors in the NRL, and the Kiwis success in the ANZAC test, the Black Caps tour of England, the netball ANZ Champs in the final stages before the Netball World Cup later this year.  .

There’s pretty much something for everyone – the only question left is how to show your support.

And designer rollerblinds are the perfect answer.

In seriously extreme cases (and there’s probably more than Warriors fan who falls into this category!), you might want to kit out every window in your home with your club’s colours – but for those who aren’t quite that tragic, being able to pull down the blind at night in a kid’s room might do the trick. And, if you’re lucky enough to have a man-cave or trophy room, where you keep all your memorabilia, what could be better than a selection of club-themed blinds to add the finishing touch.

So here’s our quick guide to some great ideas on how to show your support on a rollerblind.

1. Fan photo: This works perfectly for kids, but is just as cool for mum and dad too! If you’ve been to the ground or track and had your photo taken with your        sporting hero – why not turn that memory into a piece of permanent furniture by having it printed on an NZBlinds designer rollerblind?

2. Team strip: Whether you’re into the Breakers basketball, Liverpool in the English Premier League, the Bulldogs in the NRL or the Southern Steel – finding a photo of your team strip or just transferring the team logo onto a rollerblind is simple.

3. Think retro: The Beige Brigade know there’s fun to be had looking at the fashions of our sporting past – just look at those 1992 Cricket World Cup playing uniforms! But there’s a heap of other old images which would work just as well: think Formula One in the 1960s and 1970s, or old black and white photos of cricket and football, or classic moments in Kiwi sport such as Peter Snell’s double gold medals at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics or (if you can bear it) that underarm delivery against the Aussies in cricket in 1981.

4. Grassroots: If you play for your local team, get a photo of the team or of a particularly great piece of action to capture the moment for posterity and show your loyalty.

5. Go for gold: New Zealanders have enjoyed inspirational sporting success through the likes of Val Adams, Lisa Carrington, Hamish Bond and Eric Murray, and Sarah Ulmer – and there’s plenty of images you can use to capture their glory.

6. Back to black: And we’ve gone through all this without once mentioning our greatest sporting heroes: The All Blacks. Whether it’s with a fan photo, a simple silver fern design, an image of the whole squad, or a photo of our 2011 Rugby World Cup win, 2015 is the perfect time to show your true colours as we count down to our cup defence.
